Ellen DeGeneres, is an American comedian, television host, actress, writer, and producer born and raised in Metairie, Louisiana, to Elizabeth Jane “Betty”, a speech therapist, and Elliott Everett DeGeneres, an insurance agent. Ellen has one brother, Vance, a musician, and producer.

Betty Jane DeGeneres was born on May 20th, 1930, and is an American LGBT rights activist. She gave birth to two children namely; Ellen and Vance DeGeneres and was the first straight spokeswoman for the Human Rights Campaign’s National Coming Out Project. Betty DeGeneres is an active member of Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) and was recognized after her lesbian daughter Ellen publicly came out to speak about her sexuality in 1997.
Betty attended Louisiana State University (LSU) for two years, studying speech-language pathology to become a speech therapist. Betty got married to Elliott DeGeneres in 1952 but the marriage failed after they divorced in 1974. She got married again to another man identified as Roy Gruessendorf but got divorced again in the 1990s. DeGeneres was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after her second marriage to Roy Gruessendorf who also died in 1997.
DeGeneres returned to LSU after the age of 50 to complete her master’s degree in speech pathology where she later published two books: Love, Ellen: A Mother-Daughter Journey and Just a mother.

The father of Ellen DeGeneres, Elliot was born in 1925 to Ruth Elodie Martin and Elliott Everett DeGeneres. He got married to Betty DeGeneres in n1952 and died on the 18th of January. Ellen once described her father as “a very fearful man, he couldn’t hear or engage with anything unpleasant.” However very little is known about the father of Ellen, Elliot, as compared to her mother.
