I’m thinking of a salad-only diet which I don’t successfully before. Not sure I can lose a full 10 lbs in time with that.
Any other suggestions?

Misty, honey, I think it’s great if you want to lose weight, but you should do it for you, not for some boy you hardly know.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 26, 2021 10:31 PM |
Why do you have just a month to lose 10 lbs, OP?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 26, 2021 10:32 PM |
LOTS of cardio. LOTS of water. LOTS of resistance workouts.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 26, 2021 10:33 PM |
Fasting works faster. That’s how it got its name.

And you won't successfully now.

Intermittent fasting and low carb or keto.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 26, 2021 10:34 PM |
If you're fat, you can just eat nothing and your body will live off its fat (drink water and take supplements). But the whole problem is that people CAN'T not-eat, food is addictive.

Pour whole milk instead of half n half on your Honey Nut Cheerios.

Zero carbs, nothing white, sugar, potatoes, rice, bread. You'll do it in 2 weeks.

My D’axxyn is allergic to nutria and I can’t have it in the house. Do you think Marie would let me substitute woodchuck, or would I have to find a different system?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 26, 2021 10:55 PM |
PSMF is the way to go. You do not want to lose lean muscle mass, that will lower your metabolic rate and you will pack the weight right back on. Go on daily walks and do bodyweight workouts too, in a month you can do a bit of recomp and that will have a huge impact on how you look.

Alternate day fasting and when you eat do strict 20 carbs a day keto. On eating days only eat one or two meals.

Casually dabbling with meth.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 26, 2021 11:21 PM |
I wish you all the best but I don’t think that’s doable at all. If you want to go for it try a high protein diet like Atkins and lots of water. Try to avoid alcohol and up the walking, aim for 10k a day.
I wish you luck as I think you’re going to be absolutely knackered, slow and steady is usually best when losing weight.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 26, 2021 11:23 PM |
Is that healthy? 3+ lbs per DAY? Be careful, op.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 26, 2021 11:24 PM |
OP, that's the formula. Nothing tricky. Very low carbs, high protein. Keto works. And drink about 70-80 water daily. No alcoholic beverages. No sodas or juices. You can drink water, tea or coffee, and Both. Chicken, vegetable, WTF eve. Stay away from cereals. You can eat one slice of multi grain, whole wheat bread if it's low cal. I use Dave's Killer Bread at 70 calories a slice. If you limit yourself to eggs, fish, and chicken it's better than red meat. For these first weeks avoid rice, potatoes, pasta and red meat. Lean to love carrot and celery sticks. YU can have a bit of hummus. Also avoid fruit. Fruit has tons of calories. So like just go for the Granny Smith apples. Yogurt is good. Go for yogurt. 0% fat. So it's real simple. Chicken, Fish, Veggies, and low amounts of fruit. If you take yourself in hand you can probably drop 8 pounds. Ten would be difficult, but two pounds a week is reasonable.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 26, 2021 11:25 PM |
PS most of what you lose will be water weight, not fat, at first.
Wish you well OP.

So much depends on what weight OP is starting out and how obese they are
A 300 lb person can easily lose 10 lbs by cutting back on calories and exercising more.
Someone who weighs 170 lbs at 5'11" and wants to get down to 160 is going to have a hell of a time and need to work much harder.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | June 29, 2021 3:42 PM |
Why one month, OP? Why don't you spread it over six months? That's more attainable and healthier.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | June 29, 2021 4:10 PM |
R60, I'm 165 when I should be 155. The one month time frame is for when I'm going to Ptown. I need a good humping. It's been over a year

Assuming you are not a dwarf, OP. that's going to be tough.
Rather than weight, I would look at waist size.
Your weight varies as you age and as you add muscle, but your waist size is good indicator.
Remember too that many DLers are "fit fat" (e.g. about 50 lbs overweight or more) and so their plans for losing 10 lbs are not going to work for you.

[quote][R58] here, make those chicken breasts boneless and skinless. Marinate and grill.
Nonsense. Boneless, skinless breasts are nasty and dry. It should be bone-in with skin, so at least it'll be juicy.
That's if you can't get thighs which are the best.
Fat is not the enemy, sugar is. Crisp up the skin and enjoy.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 29, 2021 8:42 PM |
^^Citrus is high in sugar--go for melons and berries, both of which are in season now
And a splash of milk or cream in your coffee won't hurt provided you are only drinking one or two cups a day.

I would count calories. You probably need to keep your intake less than 2,000 calories per day. But here's a calculator.

The degree to which people do not understand nutrition is often baffling.
One of the top stories in the NYT today is about how smoothies often have a whole lot of calories, don't have fiber and because it's a drink, people suck down more than they should.
I was surprised that was not common knowledge at this point, especially among the type of people who gravitate to smoothies, which can easily hit 1000 calories for a large one.

I started a doctor ordered liquid diet four days ago and have already lost 5 lbs. I am having only protein shakes, broth, V-8, lots of water and cannot have more that 900 calories a day. The doctor wants me to stay on this for 2 weeks then switch to a low cal / low fat diet, 1200 calories a day or less for two weeks. Wants me to alternate the diets every 2 weeks. He wants me to lose 25 lbs by September and says this will do it.

I have been on WW for a month and dropped 10 pretty easily. (Coincidentally went from 165 to 155) I was so confused by all the diet advice (Like you see above) I just needed somebody to tell me eat this food and you will lose this much weight. That's what WW does best. I have also been in the gym everyday. I get 16 points worth of food a day and WW tells you how many points every single food is worth. The first week I flubbed around a bit trying to justify my bad habits, but then it took.
In the supermarket I can scan anything in the store with their tracker and it will tell me the point value. It also works at restaurants (Chik Fila's chicken nuggets are zero points!)
There's alot of zero point foods that fill me up quickly, eggs, chicken vegtables so I never feel hungry. I eat one main meal at lunch and have some zero point snacks if I need something. Just stick to the plan and it's easy. When coming up with the plan you input your goal weight and your timeline and they send you a plan to meet that goal.

Thanks to the heat, my inconsiderate roommates taking up kitchen space, and my laziness/depression, I’ve got into a rut of eating smoothies for brunch instead of breakfast/lunch. I pack them with protein (eggs, cottage cheese or peanut butter mostly), green vegetables and seeds, and try to avoid using high-histamine foods (they set off inflammation in my body really easily), but I still end up reaching for certain carbs to add for taste or bulk like spelt, oats, milk and honey.
Generally, I find I eat healthier and eat more (I have a tendency to undereat) when I grab a 12 o’clock smoothie, but I know they aren’t considered healthy now. Really, so far I’ve found other low-carb/keto breakfasts & lunches so boring and unappetising as well as time-consuming that I never want to make them. Is there a really tasty but also quick and easy (like, one pan or bowl) low-carb breakfast recipe out there? Or a modification I can make to my smoothies to make them less carb-heavy?
